چکیده

The effects of the general relativistic gravitomagnetic force on the orbits of a couple of counter–orbiting test particles, denoted as + and –, respectively, in the gravitational field of a central rotating mass are investigated. Based on the fact that, for identical orbital configurations, the secular Lense–Thirring rates of the nodes Ω are the same, contrary to the secular rates of the perigees ω which are equal and opposite, two different, new observables for a couple of new, counter–orbiting satellites in the gravitational field of the Earth are proposed and preliminary error budgets are presented. As a complementary consequence, also the gravitoelectric Einstein perigee precession could be measured by suitably combining the data of one of the two new satellites and of LAGEOS and LAGEOS II.

Nongravitational perturbations on the mean anomaly of LAGEOS type satellites and the gravitomagnetic clock effect

We calculate analytically the most relevant nongravitational perturbations on the mean anomaly of LAGEOS type satellites in order to investigate the constraints they pose on the feasibility of the proposed general relativistic gravitomagnetic clock effect. The gravitoelectric contributions to the proper times induced by the perturbations on the Keplerian mean motions of two counter-orbiting sat...

On Detecting the Gravitomagnetic Field of the Earth by Means of Orbiting Clocks

Based on the recent finding that the difference in proper time of two clocks in prograde and retrograde equatorial orbits about the Earth is of the order ∼ 10−7 s per revolution, the possibility of detecting the terrestrial gravitomagnetic field by means of clocks carried by satellites is discussed. A mission taking advantage of this influence of the rotating Earth on the proper time is outline...

Satellite gravitational orbital perturbations and the gravitomagnetic clock effect

In order to detect the gravitomagnetic clock effect by means of two counter-orbiting satellites placed on identical equatorial and circular orbits around the Earth with radius 7000 km their radial and azimuthal positions must be known with an accuracy of δr = 10−1 mm and δφ = 10−2 mas per revolution. In this work we investigate if the radial and azimuthal perturbations induced by the dynamical ...

Gravitomagnetic effects for polar circular geodesic orbits around a central rotating body

In this paper we are interested in the general relativistic motion around a central rotating body of mass M . In particular, we wish to elucidate the gravitomagnetic effect on the motion of a test particle following a polar circular geodesic orbit in a plane containing the proper angular momentum J of the central gravitating source. The first general relativistic correction of orderO(c−2) to th...

Orbital Perturbation Effect on LEO Satellite Trajectory

A satellite, in its orbit, is affected by perturbing forces, such as atmospheric drag, solar radiation pressure, Earth oblateness, and gravity of the celestial masses (other than the Earth). In this paper, the effects of these forces on the trajectories of different types of LEO satellites and a sample satellite (Z-SAT) are discussed. A few analyses are done on these orbits and the relevant res...
